As Division Chief of Fire Prevention, Fire Marshal Steffens was charged with community risk reduction and the pre-incident Fire and Life Safety concerns of the residents and visitors to Iona McGregor Fire District; a preeminent Fire Department in Lee County Florida. The Chief served in the fire service for 36 years.
Now retired from public service, Chief Steffens is owner and operator of Spectrum RF Testing and Consulting. Unlike other services, Spectrum RF does not sell equipment or the installation of products. We believe you should have a professional analysis of the project or building you are responsible for. Spectrum RF is focused on three critical and very much needed components of the Emergency Responder Communications industry: Stakeholder guidance and resources • Comprehensive testing data and support • and Quality control for installations when and if a vendor is required.
Seeing firsthand the jurisdictional variances and often challenging processes involved in BDA projects, Spectrum RF recognizes these highly technical installations should follow from RF engineering standards as much as code compliance standards… As a retired AHJ and student of this industry, Chief Steffens and Spectrum RF are uniquely experienced in coordinating with fire marshals, engineers, contractors, building inspectors, and field technicians both new construction and existing buildings.
In addition to a Masters and undergraduate degrees the Chief is a member of the Safer Building Coalition, Chaired a committee on SBC No Noise Task Force, holds a FCC GROL license, certification by NICET for In-building Public Safety, certification and adjunct instructor for PCTEL scanners, certifications by several industry BDA manufacturers. Chief Steffens has been a subject matter expert and guest speaker at national conferences as well as local boards and associations.
